In 1996 Cecchi purchased the Val delle Rose winery in Poggio la Mozza in the productive heart of the Morellino di Scansano.
At the time of purchase Val delle Rose counts on 25 hectares planted with vines.
The intervention can be likened to a small agricultural revolution in that the agronomic techniques used until then did not guarantee the consistency in quality necessary for the survival of a winery.
The study of the available soils, a practice later carried out by many other Maremma wineries, reveals the enormous potential of this terroir, so much so that the winery decides to extend the vineyard to the current 100 or so hectares where Sangiovese is the protagonist.
