Half Day Bike Tour in Valsolda, Lake Lugano with Lunch
The destination is the Valsolda, the valley that leads us to the Swiss town of Lugano. It is a rather forgotten valley, full of hidden gems just waiting to be discovered.
On our list is the Caravina Sanctuary, which offers a spectacular balcony over Lake Lugano. We climb cobblestone walkways to the church's entrance and follow verdant scenic roads as we make our way to the village of Castello. Perched on a hill, it is one of the best examples of an ancient Italian mountain village. The Church of San Martino-known as the Sistine Chapel of Lombardy for its beautifully frescoed dome-overlooks Ceresio with an unforgettable panorama.
The day would not be complete without a rejuvenating stop at the crystal-clear pools of water of the Soldo River.
We make a stop for lunch at a charming local restaurant before reaching the Lake Lugano beach and enjoying the expansive views of the water and mountains.
Bikes are suitable for participants with a minimum height of 160 cm; minimum age of 15 years with the ability to handle a bike of about 22 kg.
What to bring: Sunscreen, rain protection (as a precaution), suitable cycling clothing, flat-soled sports shoes (absolutely not recommended to wear sandals or open-toed shoes), snacks (optional).
