Guided tour of the Rizzo Winery
Situated on the slopes of Mount Chianiello near the gorges of the Calore River, it is owned by the Rizzo Antonia winery. The winery, located in the municipality of Felitto, was built in 2004. The birth of the company dates back to January 1970, initially the activities carried out were the production of grapes, which were delivered to the nearby Cantina Sociale Val Calore.
In addition to the cultivation of grapes on the farm, extra virgin olive oil was produced, but this activity declined over time, giving way to the production of quality grapes and finally to the construction of the winery. The grapes made into wine by Cantina Rizzo come from the winery's vineyards located in the municipalities of Felitto and Laurino.
The varieties grown are aglianico, merlot and fiano. In addition to these varieties, the winery has made and carries on the development of the native aglianicone variety now recognized as an indigenous grape variety of the Campania region.
The wine produced from this variety lends itself to long aging in 20 hl oak barrels preserving characteristic varietal notes of violet. The wines produced, are amon, fix, canto della vigna, il sorriso, grappolo d'oro and angela.
The cultivation of the vineyard is scrupulously followed in all its stages while maintaining great attention on the yield per plant and systematically monitoring each stage and period of production.
