Even a building as rich in history as the Fragsburg needs someone to breathe soul into it, promoting its image and ensuring its future. Alexander Ortner, who now represents the third generation of the family that owns the castle, is passionately dedicated to this task. He has thus been able to create a corner of the earth in which precious is what is simple and important what is essential.
Already at the time of Andreas Hofer, hero of the resistance of the South Tyroleans against the Napoleonic and Bavarian troops, Fragsburg Castle boasted its own history worthy of mention and honor. The building was erected in 1624 and intended as a hunting lodge; its walls exude the spirit of a distant past, full of memorable encounters and stories. When the Ortner family took ownership in 1954, the new castellans personally began to conduct careful and painstaking research into the castle's history, bringing to light page after page of it in order to pass it down to the present day.
