Epic Bike Tour - Gardetta
Initially we follow the signs to the Colle del Preit: we cross the villages of Canosio, Preit and we feast our eyes thanks to the spectacular surrounding mountain panorama. The last stretch just before the pass, a long traverse, gives no respite to our legs and our engine: arrived at the Colle del Preit begins the dirt road under the gaze of the beautiful Rocca La Meja: we are pedaling in a geological site of absolute beauty!
We meet the Casermette della Bandia barracks, and continue towards the Valcavera Pass: here we are exactly at the junction point between the Maira and Stura Valleys. One more short asphalt climb and we arrive at Colle Fauniera and Cippo Pantani. A short stretch of asphalt divides us from the Colle d' Esischie; shortly after, our Trail begins and we descend towards the valley. The dirt trail, technical and fun, touches asphalt at several points ("soft" alternative) and requires a fair amount of riding ability to tackle the steps and exciting single-track sections: no problem, with proper attention the trail is 90 percent cyclable. Alternatively, you can ride the beautiful, semi-deserted, relaxing and scenic asphalt road.
Overnight stay in the area is recommended if you intend to participate also in the following day's Cannon Road Tour: it is advisable to book in advance, the facilities are few and already almost full!
The Tour is moderately challenging in length and elevation gain; some climbs and descents are a bit steep, some downhill single track sections require good riding skills, but they are optional because you can customize the difficulty by splitting the group in the more challenging sections.
Demanding but spectacular loop in the Maira Valley, which is a guarantee of routes with very high emotional involvement!"
The Gardetta Plateau is part of the geological heritage of 'Humanity and offers views that are difficult to match in beauty and majesty.
