Description

Established in the 16th century at the behest of Antonio Manin, the Villa was renovated in the early 18th century by architect Domenico Rossi, who designed the current appearance of the building and the most scenographically important interventions, such as the Piazza Quadra and the Piazza Tonda, enclosed by exedras, with a plastic effect reminiscent of Bernini's 17th-century colonnade in St. Peter's Square in Rome.
Subsequent interventions by Giovanni Ziborghi and Giorgio Massari, one of the most important exponents of eighteenth-century Venetian architecture, will realize the upper crowning of the aristocratic body, while the garden takes on the forms of the "place of delights" typical of the Baroque age.

It was the home of the last Doge of Venice and in 1797 hosted Napoleon Bonaparte, in the days when, with the Treaty of Campoformido, the sunset of the Most Serene Republic of Venice was being prepared.

Together, we will discover the architecture and the treasures hidden in the garden of this "Versailles" of Friuli.
