Description

The island of Tenerife certainly has a plethora of wonders of nature to offer, among which its magicalnatural swimming pools certainly stand out.

These, which are actually present in all the islands of the archipelago, were formed by the solidification of lava that arose from devastating volcanic eruptions and today they are the ideal place to treat yourself to a relaxing bath among the gentle waves and rocks, sheltered from the strong currents of the Atlantic Ocean.

Now come and find out what we think are the 8 most beautiful natural pools in Tenerife

Detailed programme

La Jaquita

  • Between the beautiful cliffs of the small village of Alcalá in the south of the island, just 10 minutes from Los Gigantes, you'll find two turquoise natural pools where you can dive and relax overlooking the ocean, but more protected. Access is along the boardwalk and is facilitated by ramps and stairs that lead directly to the pools.

Charco de La Laja

  • Between the shores of the northern area of Tenerife, moving to the municipality of San Juan de la Rambla, we find another of the island's best-known natural pools.
Easily accessible on foot, by a long flight of steps and leaving your car in the nearby parking lot, La Laja offers incredible crystal-clear water in which to bathe calmly and away from the waves.

Charco del Rayo

  • The Charco del Rayo, also known as Hueco del Rayo, is a peculiar natural pool shaped like crater and located in the southwest of the island, in the municipality of Buenavista del Norte.

Mesa del Mar Swimming Pools

  • The natural pools of Mesa del Mar are located in the coast of Tacoronte -northwest of Tenerife- and are known and visited mostly by locals.

El Caletón

  • Descending from North of the island on the west coast, in municipality of Garachico we encounter El Caletón.

Natural Pools of Bajamar

  • Bajamar is a coastal town in the municipality of San Cristóbal de la Laguna, in the north of Tenerife, and features three "natural" (two deeper, one shallower suitable for children) equipped with access ramps, bathrooms and showers.

Charco del Viento

  • The Charco del Viento is one of the most famous and popular natural pools in North Tenerife. A series of natural pools among volcanic cliffs will allow you a relaxing swim sheltered from the strong waves of the Ocean.

Cueva El Tancón

  • The natural swimming pool El Tancón, among the cliffs of Puerto Santiago southwestern area of the island, offers incredible crystal-clear water that, in sunlight, reflects in contrast with the rocks wonderful colors between green and turquoise.
The grotto is reached on foot by walking down from the beaches of Puerto Santiago and, after a walk of 10 minutes along the rocks, you will arrive at the magical cave. This natural pool is connected to the ocean by a channel that causes the water inside the cave to rise and fall rhythmically according to the tide.
