A Day of Nature and Gastronomy in the Ancient Village of Felitto
The experience includes:
- Guided tour along the streets of the ancient village of Felitto
- Trekking trail through the gorges of the Calore River
- Lunch at village trattoria where it will be possible to taste traditional Felitto dishes (vegetable appetizer: stuffed eggplant, Cilento-style zucchini, eggplant meatballs, nettle parmigiana; Felitto cheeses; fusilli with meat sauce; village chicken; water, drinks and wine; dessert, coffee)
- Cooking class to learn how to handcraft fusillo di Felitto
- Visit at "L'oro di Felitto," the workshop for artisanal production of fresh fusillo according to the "ancient method"
The activity will start from the ancient village of Felitto. The accompanying guide will talk about the history, culture and traditions of the place, along the streets of the small town of medieval origin. Following the visit we will head towards the Calore River where the trekking route will begin, leading you to the river gorges. Along the way the environmental guide will take you to discover all the geological features and naturalistic beauties of the area. After a tasty meal rich in the local culinary tradition, the experience of preparing fresh fusillo will be an unmissable opportunity to learn the tricks of the trade directly from the local ladies who have been handing down the recipe to future generations for centuries. The day will end inside the laboratory "L'oro di Felitto," a small workshop that produces the typical fresh fusillo still according to the ancient recipe, and sells it all over the world.
- 9:30 a.m.: meeting in Piazza Mercato No. 1 Felitto
- Visit of the ancient village (estimated time 40 minutes)
- 10:30 am: start of the trekking route at the Calore Gorges + guided tour to discover the environmental resources of the area (expected time 3 hours)
- 2:00 pm: lunch at local trattoria
- 5:00 pm: cooking class
- 6:00 p.m.: visit to the workshop of artisanal production of fresh fusillo
- 7:30 p.m.: return
The small medieval village of Felitto, located in the Cilento hinterland in the heart of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, is a must-see destination on your itinerary. Rich in resources it will amaze you with its centuries-old history, delicious flavors and evocative nature. It rises in the valley of the Calore River, along which trekking trails lead to the evocative Calore Gorge, a magical and unspoiled place. After a regenerating trekking walk, what could be better than a delicious dish of fusilli? In fact, it is fusillo, the king of fresh pasta, that is the undisputed star of Felittese cuisine. Expertly made by the locals according to the traditional recipe, it is a real attraction for the small Cilento village that enjoys international fame.
You will need to equip yourself with technical sportswear suitable for trekking activities.
Transportation will take place by the visitor's own means, from the arrival at the meeting place, to the 10 min stretch of road to reach the Calore gorges from where the trekking route will begin, until the return to the village.
The experience involves a trekking activity on paths not suitable for handicapped persons and generally not recommended for those unable to walk for about three hours over rough terrain.
It will not be possible to have this experience during the coldest months of the year (December, January, February, March) and in August because of too high temperatures.
Every Wednesday it will not be possible to conduct the activity.
