Description of the structure

Fortified 16th-century farmhouse with 11th-century hypogeum oil mill, surrounded by 20 hectares of olive groves on the family farm.

The structure is strategically located to visit those characteristic and unique places that are part of the territory: you can decide to spend a day at the sea choosing between Adriatic and Ionian depending on the direction of the wind; you can choose to visit the Itria Valley with its trulli or head inland to visit the Castellana Caves or pop into Grottaglie with its ceramics.

Every morning you can expect a sweet breakfast of homemade cakes and pastries, fruit and yogurt, and savory items upon request.

Masseria Casamassima will give you the thrill of a vacation in close contact with nature and where you can taste the typical products and authentic flavors of the countryside and the oil produced by the farm.

Presentation

In the ancient Masserie di Puglia everything necessary for the sustenance of those who worked and lived there was produced, and where the souls of the peasants found solace in the little church inside.

The fortification of the masserie was linked to the need for defense from the raids of Saracen pirates or bands of brigands.  These structures, in fact, were included in a system of protection of the territory and represented the second line against attacks from the sea, while the first line was the coastal watchtowers built by the Aragonese.

Masseria Casamassima is the typical example of this type of structures, it has preserved all its period charm and its original features

Today, it is a modern company that has made its traditions a source of energy to draw on to ensure the authenticity of its products, preparations, and hospitality.
