Detailed programme
Program:
- Meeting with the guide in Piazza Cristoforo Colombo, the main square on the Cefalù waterfront. After some historical background on the town, you will cross the beautiful waterfront to reach Via Gioeni, where you will taste the famous "Ca Meusa" sandwich (sandwich with spleen), a real must in the Palermo area!
- Visit the medieval washhouse that houses the mouth of the Cefalino River, once used by washerwomen to clean their clothes.
- Progressing until you reach Porta Marina, the only one of the 4 access gates to the historic center still intact from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the sea! After admiring the Bastion tower and the Giudecca, the historic quarter where Cefaludese fishermen used to live, you will delight your palate with a tasting of Panelle e Crocchè, fried dishes that in Palermo's cuisine can't absolutely be missed!
- In Piazza Duomo, a UNESCO heritage site since 2015, where you will taste the queen of Palermo's street food...the arancina!
- You will then walk through a neighborhood characterized by narrow alleys and streets that will lead you right under the fortress until you reach the Osterio Magno, a historic fortified palace. Awaiting you is the traditional Sfincione palermitano, a tall focaccia with a soft dough and irresistible topping!
- In the last stop of the Cefalù street food tour, you cannot miss the cannolo di ricotta, undoubtedly the most famous Sicilian dessert in the world!
