Description

Along private roads, winding and very steep, we will reach in a few minutes on board a Land Rover Defender 4x4 the highest quarries, up to over 1000 meters above sea level. During the journey we will make several stops inside several active quarries of different types (open pit, well, etc..), for technical explanations, to see the various stages of excavation, to take highly panoramic photographs, etc.. You will have a toast inside a quarry with a glass of ice-cold Prosecco and/or a refreshing drink, before visiting a spectacular underground quarry, where even the most disenchanted visitors cannot mask the emotion you feel in a decidedly lunar environment. Return to the starting point with a stop for a taste of the famous "Lardo di Colonnata IGP".

Expert's presentation

A guided tour in 4x4 will take you to discover the marble quarries, where small men move huge blocks of stone. For over 2000 years nature and man's work have been working together here to provide the raw material for the architectural and artistic works that make us famous all over the world. We will take you to a different and fascinating reality, made of hard work and genius, ancient sweat and modern technology. You will discover the quarries, techniques and history, of course, but also the millenary villages of the quarrymen, their habits, their language, food and daily life.
